Reflections of a Salvationist give the reader an intimate glimpse into the world of a Salvationist with a calling. For Arie van Dijk, paying attention to each other means being aware of the big and small things in life. Every day is a day to learn. While the one moment we close our eyes for our own imperfections, the next moment brings exactly what is needed to be loving and of service to the other. Arie van Dijk has developed this idea with a surprising amount of humour in numerous short texts that are sincere and - there is no other way to put it - mostly fun to read!

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible, its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. The Army is at work in 131 countries on all continents. Its holds Sunday worship meetings, operates community centers, homes for homeless, addicts, elderly and youth. In the developing countries it runs schools and hospitals. The Army is involved in emergency relief and counters human trafficking.

Arie van Dijk (1951) studied mechanical engineering in Rotterdam. In 1972 he met his wife, who inspired him to join the Salvation Army. He He became a pastor in six corps (religious communities) in the Netherlands and was appointed various staff positions in community building and youth work.
