De vub is de enige Nederlandstalige universiteit met een campus die naam waardig: een universiteitsterrein met aula's, leslokalen, laboratoria en woningen voor studenten. Deze omgeving zorgt voor een unieke sfeer. Deels wordt deze sfeer mee bepaald door de bijzondere en gevarieerde architectuur van de campussites. Met het boek Campusarchitectuur sinds 1970, het eerste deel uit de reeks 'Bouwen aan de Vrije Universiteit Brussel', wordt een overzicht gegeven van de verschillende architecturale stijlen die de sites Etterbeek en Jette markeren. Architecten zoals Renaat Braem, Willy Van Der Meeren, Baro, Conix, Cnops, e.a. gaven er vorm aan. Renaat Braem, Willy Van Der Meeren, Baro, Conix, Cnops... Cette publication peut etre consideree comme un point de reference, avec une vue rebelle sur le passe et un apercu de l'avenir du patrimoine architectural de la vub.
